President's welcome
Welcome to the 2024 Devonport Cup, the first tournament of the year for junior associations and club teams. This prestigious event brings together junior soccer players and their coaches from across the state to showcase their development and highlight emerging talent.
Firstly, I am delighted to welcome McDonald’s as the naming rights sponsor once again this year along with Devonport City Council and McGrath as our major sponsors. We are immensely grateful for their continued support.
In promoting this wonderful sport, our focus remains on teamwork, fair play, fun and development. We hope to see these young plays thrive in these key areas, with the support and encouragement of everyone attending this weekend.
We ask every player, parent, spectator and coach to abide by the Code of Conduct throughout the Devonport Cup. Please support and respect our referees and administration staff who are here to learn and develop alongside the players. Without these dedicated volunteers, such events would not be possible.
I would like to personally thank the DJSA committee and the Devonport Cup subcommittee for their tireless efforts and hard work leading up to the Cup.
Special thanks to the Devonport City Council personnel for providing essential services that are often taken for granted. To our hard-working volunteers who set up the pitches and amenities each morning and take them down again after we have all gone home, thank you. I would like to acknowledge the support of the Devonport Strikers for the use of their excellent facilities, and thank the East Devonport Football Club for volunteering their facilities and time over the weekend.
A big thank you to our referee coordinators for their commitment and effort. Finally to all our sponsors, your contributions and ongoing support make this Cup a sporting event we can all be proud of.
